Pacov's place to enjoy the show.

This thread has been closed by pacov - a new thread has been created here:  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/383615

Why create this thread?

Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho.  It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are.  That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category.  So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out.  Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other.  So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.

Your part if you want to participate

Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today?  I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc).  I'm happy to have everyone's feedback.  I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight.  Perhaps we'll get games going.  You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.

You can nominate anyone you want.  To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list.  If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.

I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each.  Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.

Tier 1 Demigod Players:

Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well.  They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5.  These are players that do not cheat or desync games.  These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game.  Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.

Tier 2 Demigod Players:

These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same.  Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2).  The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.

Tier 3 Demigod Players:

A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...

Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:

These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat.  You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.

  • AlienWarrior - This player should be avoided.  Stat exploiter confirmed by pacov.  As of 1/5/2010, this player has 34 wins and 0 losses and is ladder ranked 34.  I played a game with him in a 1v1 with him as the host.  After confirming that the player spoke English, I asked him if he would let the stats count if I beat him (there is currently a simple exploit that enables any host in a 1v1 game to make the game disappear if they don't want the stats to be kept - Also note that this player plays almost exclusively 1v1 games).  The player did not respond to my question.  As I began to tear down both sides of the player's base, he used the stat exploit and the game vanished as a result.  The player used this exploit with about 10 minutes left in the game.  Based on his stats and skill level (read: not highly skilled), this player is clearly exploiting the stat system.
  • PrizmSmurf - This player should be avoided.  Stat exploiter and poor sport confirmed by pacov on 4/1/2010.  After losing in a 2v2 matchup, PrizmSmurf said "I hope you die a long slow death of cancer.  I mean it."  Then said, "Bet you are going to enjoy watching me desync."  Then, just before the citadel went down, desynced the game. Based on his stats, he clearly does not desync games on a regular basis, but wishing cancer on someone because they beat you in a game and then committing the one offense in demigod that can get you banned (saying you are desycning then desyncing) is a bit over the top.  I suggest you avoid him.

I've heard he talks trash, but between friends that's just having fun, I wouldn't think any less of him for it. I'm mainly addressing how he can start a thread, get insulted by many people and give simple explanations in his response without calling the other person an idiot.
talk trash is the nice way of saying "If hisw team is losing chances are someone on his team is getting cussed out "

Edit: If that person is an idiot then they are an idiot. Beating around the bush is just adding insult to injury.

OH you mean on the forums... well yeah. But its not trash talk its like "why the (insert profanity of choice) am I all alone at their port?"

But he's gotten better.

Yeah man. You gotta make sure you're ready to jump at a moments notice to where Pacov is, lol. If you arnt there, oh man.

I say that out loud regardless of whether anyone can here me or not. It's important to be aware of your teammates' positions, especially if you're playing with rook.

It so diffrent when you fight for the on the flag and chase into towers knowing that your premade buddy is right behind with shield or heal to get you out after you kill your enemy, to fighting PUG when some oftem dont even speak english.

I am trully suprised that hedgie is not on tier 1. I know he dosnt have good premade to win almost every game now. But he plays as much premade games as Pug games yet still can manage over 70% win ratio. He is also able to change his build depending what enemies he is facing and to counter specific builds. Plays 3-4 demigods very well and others at good/average level. He is willing to balance teams or join weaker side in lobby without any problems. Lasty is one of fev sedna who can stay in field till level 10 only with 500 helmet and monks after buying gold upgrade.

This above should be a template when you decide who should be tier one.

Edit:

I sound so serius because this list seemed to be serius and was taken seriusly by most people playing demigod these days. Claiming that you want find best demigod players out there really sounds like a serius thing to talk about. However if u want it to be just ur buddies and premade list please fell free to do that.

But if you asking all people who do they think should be on the list and then telling to take it easy and thats its not exact sience makes me fell lost.

To hedgie profile:
He is also actively looking for bugs in lua code and proposes changes to minmize them.

Summarizing:

Either we make proper list of the best demigod players out there or just a list of buddies to play with. I you want serius list i would propose score system. Everyone can vote by putting 5 names up and scoring them from 1 to 5. Say i would go:

hedgie 5

Obscenitor 4

Rawrrr 3

Pacov 2

Gkirt 1

Well if tier 1 are players that do not need a premade to do well I would cut out Ninki, Mcshane, Kalel,gL-OmicronLyrae, and Thatguyyoulove.

Agree for gL-OmicronLyrae : http://www.gamereplays.org/demigod/replays.php?game=51&tab=popular&show=details&id=109347

Wait what you're setting Gkrit as one? I love his moddingwork but game skills...

I was gonna boast how I easily killed Lehstang twice in the first 5 min we first played but now I can't  . Anyway I think Pacov should terminate this list, the current way with playing as a group on vent(if needed differenc channels for teams for the competetive) is way superior than this condescending list that adds nothing but grief and E-peenery for everyone involved.

on Feb 01, 2010

I'm not in this fu***** list Why? Some people talk about me, and thanks for that. Even if it's not very important for me to proove that I'm a good player, i'm surprised to be not here with 75%+ winrate in the 3 season, and without playin' in team. Moreover, playin' with everybody (like noobs).

But remember : DG is a team playing game. And personnally, I think it's the work of the team which make the victory. That's why talkin' about best DG players isn't the good question... but Who is the best team in DG will be better. For that, we need the clans to be effective by a ranking system. This website has a "clans" button, and says since the beginning of DG (april 2009) : "coming soon". But in 9 months, nothing

PS : sorry for my bad english

75%!? Lookout world.

Well if tier 1 are players that do not need a premade to do well I would cut out Ninki, Mcshane, Kalel,gL-OmicronLyrae, and Thatguyyoulove.

I would than replace them with:

Pantz
Abuggered
Dice
Kira
Morpheas
Magnus
AmazingHero

But I am assuming that will not be the case. I also have nothing against the premade fellows in tier 1 I even voted Ninki on.

Hmm cow, even though I have several hundred pug games dating back to when DG was first released in April, it does seem that only when Ninki and I are together that the majority of the time you end up quitting the game and even abandoning your own premade friend, peterdumptruck.  In case your memory of this is hazy, I also use my cousin's old account: Tylermt.  You did almost beat me when I was alone once though even after Peter dropped early, so perhaps I am terrible without Ninki.  I'll have to run some more tests to solve this pressing issue.

The futile attempt to sound trendy by omiting consonants at the end of verbs only further underlines the total ignorance of Demigod's gameplay this individual posseses.

I played you, you suck.

^Lifekatana, you need to edit your post cause you didn't quote properly. I was kind of confused as to what you were saying.
