Pacov's place to enjoy the show.

This thread has been closed by pacov - a new thread has been created here:  http://forums.demigodthegame.com/383615

Why create this thread?

Simply stated, the ladder is generally not the best depiction of skill, imho.  It GENERALLY tracks who plays the game the most and/or who acts like a jerk by cheating instead of who the most talented players are.  That's not to say that everyone high up in the ladder falls into this category.  So, if I were to put together my own ladder that indicated skill, I wonder how things would shake out.  Obvious hurdles being that many highly skilled individuals don't play each other.  So, this requires either the people that don't play together to play more together (my personal choice) or I have to rely from feedback from other players.

Your part if you want to participate

Who do you guys think are the best players in demigod today?  I understand that its a team game, but individual players do tend to stand out (and I also know that one great player can't guarantee a win if he has weak teammates, etc).  I'm happy to have everyone's feedback.  I'm not looking for people to jump in and flame. Just call out who you think is great or who you'd like to see fight.  Perhaps we'll get games going.  You want to flame and talk crap, your post will probably end up deleted.

You can nominate anyone you want.  To keep this from being a list of who likes who, several individuals that are generally considered excellent at the game will moderate the list.  If those individuals generally agree, a player can be removed or promoted in the list.

I've decided on 4 categories of players and have provided descriptions of each.  Please recommend players along with the category you feel they fit in.

Tier 1 Demigod Players:

Realistically, its my belief that there are 10-30 players in this game that are tier 1 DG players (the best). Those players shine as individuals, generally with a wide variety of characters and do not depend on a specific team or teammate to do well.  They can play exceptionally in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5.  These are players that do not cheat or desync games.  These are the people that you want on your team or you want to play against because you know you will get a good game.  Any player in this list or any other should currently be an active player.

Tier 2 Demigod Players:

These are players that don't quite currently fit into highest level of players, but are good players all the same.  Perhaps they require a specific team or can only do well in specific types of games (1v1, 2v2).  The bottom line is that they aren't quite as polished or versatile as the highest level players.

Tier 3 Demigod Players:

A third group (or list) would be everyone else. No need to list individuals...

Demigod Players that Should Be Avoided:

These would be specific individuals that clearly (and I mean clearly) cheat.  You don't get on this list unless I (pacov) am VERY convinced that you belong here.

  • AlienWarrior - This player should be avoided.  Stat exploiter confirmed by pacov.  As of 1/5/2010, this player has 34 wins and 0 losses and is ladder ranked 34.  I played a game with him in a 1v1 with him as the host.  After confirming that the player spoke English, I asked him if he would let the stats count if I beat him (there is currently a simple exploit that enables any host in a 1v1 game to make the game disappear if they don't want the stats to be kept - Also note that this player plays almost exclusively 1v1 games).  The player did not respond to my question.  As I began to tear down both sides of the player's base, he used the stat exploit and the game vanished as a result.  The player used this exploit with about 10 minutes left in the game.  Based on his stats and skill level (read: not highly skilled), this player is clearly exploiting the stat system.
  • PrizmSmurf - This player should be avoided.  Stat exploiter and poor sport confirmed by pacov on 4/1/2010.  After losing in a 2v2 matchup, PrizmSmurf said "I hope you die a long slow death of cancer.  I mean it."  Then said, "Bet you are going to enjoy watching me desync."  Then, just before the citadel went down, desynced the game. Based on his stats, he clearly does not desync games on a regular basis, but wishing cancer on someone because they beat you in a game and then committing the one offense in demigod that can get you banned (saying you are desycning then desyncing) is a bit over the top.  I suggest you avoid him.

The futile attempt to sound trendy by omiting consonants at the end of verbs only further underlines the total ignorance of Demigod's gameplay this individual posseses.

I played you, you suck.

Well... my english isn't perfect but I understand what you are saying. Just for your information, do you know that the game is in french too? Your argument is becoming futile...

Moreover, I don't remember to have lost with or against you by playing like a noob... But well, as you wish. You want to say stupid things, so I will let you continue.

A last idea for you : please have more respect for me ! A man who speak very well english (and who knows perfectly the Demigod's gameplay /joke) can write with better words. I suppose you were angry because of a lost... poor lifekatana... remember it's only a game...

See you.

Well if tier 1 are players that do not need a premade to do well I would cut out Ninki, Mcshane, Kalel,gL-OmicronLyrae, and Thatguyyoulove.

I would than replace them with:

Pantz
Abuggered
Dice
Kira
Morpheas
Magnus
AmazingHero

But I am assuming that will not be the case. I also have nothing against the premade fellows in tier 1 I even voted Ninki on.

Hmm cow, even though I have several hundred pug games dating back to when DG was first released in April, it does seem that only when Ninki and I are together that the majority of the time you end up quitting the game and even abandoning your own premade friend, peterdumptruck.  In case your memory of this is hazy, I also use my cousin's old account: Tylermt.  You did almost beat me when I was alone once though even after Peter dropped early, so perhaps I am terrible without Ninki.  I'll have to run some more tests to solve this pressing issue.

Me and peter are never on voice and was that the 3v2 game after peter desynced that I almost won that your refering too?

I am pretty sure I haven't rage in any of your games with ninki, but I have conceded enough to get sick of playing vers your premade with pugs.

I don't even have a mic.  Since you and peter know each other and sometimes play together, you are just as premade as Ninki and I are.  Ninki started using vent within the last couple of days because we joined a clan but I'm not on there yet.

Yes that is the game I am referring to, you repeated exactly what I said, almost being the key word.

And I figured your memory would be hazy so here are 2 examples of the rages:

http://pantheon.demigodthegame.com/game/1212753/player/11082/ - In this game I was playing as Tylermt like I mentioned already.  And you and peter were dragging your team down on the right side, so you raged and then he left as well.

Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with you either.  I think you play quite well sometimes, like today when you were there while ninki and hemp beat orcun and me.  But before your next slanderous statement accusing people of only being good if they use voice chat to beat you, try to have your facts correct.

I pulled your name out along with others because irek proposed a tier list without people that played exclusively premade games. I thought you along with the rest I removed only play premade games. I wasn't accusing anyone of only being good because they use a voice chat just putting out what I thought irek was looking for.

The 4v4 game was a legitiment rage probably because I was so disgusted with how the game was going and or my teammates refuse to concede. The other game was just stupid, my team couldn't win a 3v2 and I was beyond disgusted again. I think its kind of ironic that we have had two games that ended up being winnable in a 3v2 situation. Anyway Congratz! u got me to rage! You want a cookie?

On a side note Pacov! get to fixing peoples names, the GM clan is here and its probably not going to be going anywhere.

I'd like to nominate gL-idealopamp and Thundercles for Tier 2

I would be okay with magnus333 on Tier 1 except he ... doesn't play well when things don't go his way :-/ but I think that happens to a lot of us.

magnus needs to beat me yet before I say tier 1 for him.

I do agree with idealo and thundercles for tier 2 both very good players.

That last game I played with you was the last game of DG I played...

I told you I didn't want to play it in the lobby either!  I'm playing Mass Effect 2 at the moment but that will end in time and I'm sure I'll be back.

When it's obvious that you're not going to win you might as well spend the rest of the game educating the noobs on your team how to play better.  Sometimes they appreciate it, sometimes they don't but it's better than getting frustrated that you are trying so hard for nothing.

You mean we have had 2 games: one of which was won in a 3 vs 2 situation by ninki and I, and the other almost won by you; so not ironic at all actually since they were two different outcomes, only one unexpected.  I take no pride in making you rage.  To be honest I would be ashamed of myself if you hadn't finally quit, having merely conceded in other games. After almost a year of demigod, frustration and rage are now like carbohydrates to me; they nourish me and motivate me to play.  Both the frustration of other players and my own.  But now that you mention it, a cookie sounds nice.

Bwahhaha.  Good stuff.  You might have a career ahead of you in either writing greeting cards, creating t-shirt slogans, or marketing for demigod.  lolz

I'm playing Mass Effect 2 at the moment but that will end in time and I'm sure I'll be back.

The good news is that it can be beat in around 34 hours or so I'm told.  I picked it up as well, but am just slowly working on it as time allows.

To be honest I don't really enjoy ME2.  It's decent but not my style (I don't like space or aliens).  Dragon Age however was the single greatest game of all time in my book.  Which says a lot considering how many games I've played over the decades.

The longer the game the better imo, DA took 60 hours, we'll see how ME2 goes.

Why... oh why... would you buy mass effect 2 if you dislike space or aliens?  lolz.  I loved DA as well - think i got more than 60 hours out of it. My buddy says he completed pretty much every mission in ME2 in 34 hours.  I was a little surprized by that as well.  The good news (or bad) is that the dragon age expansion is dueout soon.

I also think RAWRRR is awesome and tier 1 is suitable for him. I just hope he hasn't left the game!

Given irek's comments just would like to add that, although it may not be a 100% correct, this player list is pretty good.  To me it acts as a guide to people that are able to play in higher level games, and its rather accurate.  Thats cause I played in pugs with some players from the list and they definately stood out from regular pugs, much more reliable teamwork wise.  We beat premades with teammates from the list that i played for the first time with; would rarely happen with a regular pug.  That means that this list servies its purpose well.  Good job pacs

p.s.

fact that it may be composed of people that play premades or know eachover is not necessarily a problem.  if people find it more enjoyable to play people of their skill that's what you should expect.
