Pacov's place to enjoy the show.
Published on December 18, 2011 By pacov In PC Gaming

Just thought I'd get this going and then weigh in sometime soon.  I picked it up and, so far, absolutely love it.  My first character is a Sith Juggernaut Warrior.  I love how its really story driven and the huge amount of voice acting.  I also dig how crafting is setup.  Anyway, all the time I'm going to put into this post for now... back to playing

Thought I'd update this with some useful info instead of having to dig through the thread.

Clan info, servers, etc.

Many of us are on the Kass City server - includes many SD staffers + folks from the community

  • pacov (pacov)- Bounty Hunter - mercenary (dps) - level 50
  • pewpewpacov - Imperial Agent - sniper (dps) - level 30ish
  • ryat (ryat) - Bounty Hunter - power tech
  • carbon (Ryden) - Sith Assassin
  • seamw (Ahblaka) - imperial agent

Ryat has several other character on Hyperspace Cannon server:

Ryat - Sentinel
Ryata - Gunslinger
Tayme - Sage
Zachy - Commando

I'm really having a blast playing this.

I really enjoyed Alderaan, but that might be due to the Consular class storyline more then anything else. Those can vary wildly in quality between classes and planets.

For me Tattoine was a place to gain contacts and sever an infamous training ground for terrorists. Sure I was marooned there and sure I still hate the bastard governor that put my ship in lockdown until I agreed to serve him, but I learned how to scavenge for survival rather than profit. I made a few very important contacts within the exchange and republic ranks. I got off that rock stronger and smarter. Alderaan is proving to be a much more complicated spy game. I like complicated games.

Also, been making some pretty good credits on the market selling Armor Mods. They are in high demand if you take the time to reverse engineer. I make it a point to write down every scrapyard I find for each grade of metal. That way I can diversify my goods later on in the game.

Well, I managed to get over my extreme hatred of tatooine and now actually like it.  Managed to almost get caught up on all my bounty hunter training as well - just missing one, but I should be able to knock that out quickly enough now that I've got a little cash flow.  I really enjoyed the quest where you uncover artifacts and learn a little bit about the infinite empire.  I think that's what finally got me into like tatooine.  I also dig how some areas are flag for PvP and force you to go to that.  I think this is the first planet I've come across that does that so far.

Anyway, back to having fun with the game again.

I swore I would never touch an MMO.........sigh......well the Star Wars story is just too good so yeah.......

I'm now rolling a level 38 Sith Juggernaut (had to go imperial......no way am I rolling republic scum! hehe).

pacov, you gain more credits from completing ALL bonus mission objectives as well as keeping your credits by not dying.  Everytime you die your armour takes a huge hit and if you need to repair it at a vendor you can have a big bill really fast.  For instance after one particularily hard boss battle and many deaths the repair bill for my healer companion and myself (I had solo'd that quest) was just shy of 7,000 credits.

Also, as pointed out.......I can't even get a new skill these days for under 15-20K.  Isn't really a problem though cause I've been saving for the speeder upgrade at level 40 and currently have about 300,000 credits saved.

Make sure you do missions with your companions and make sure your companions LIKE you (as in keep working at maxing out their "affection") since your mission results with companions will yield better results the more they like you.

Didn't know that.  Thanks!

I do all of the bonus missions always though - main reason I was always pretty poor was my nonstop crafting missions since like level 10.  It's not quite as bad now, though.

What do you get out of the 2nd speeder training?  How much faster?  Level 1 is like 90% speed.

i do think its another 10% and you can take a few more hits before you get knocked out, or in my case Blown off in an pyrotechnic explosion worth of any movie. I even do the flaying arms an I go crashing to the ground in a faceplant.

Oh and yesterday I was finally ganked for the first time by 3 rebs. They waited until I had finished killing an elite mob on Hoth, healed up and then a level 41 and two level 50's jumped my ass. I just stood there and took it. Lasted about 14 seconds and then I was dead. The two 50's danced on my body while the 41 bowed. At least they didn't camp my corpse (which was actually good for them cause our guild has about 90 members and it would have been really fun to watch the rebs being slaughtered by the 10+ level 50's we've got in our group......hehe).

What exactly do you get out of killing someone in PvP?  XP/gold?  If you die in PvP, do you take that huge armor penalty someone mentioned happening when you die?

You get the satisfaction of having killed someone.

Yes the armour penalty I mentioned earlier is applied in open-world PvP.  If you however join in a PvP warzone battle it does not apply.

on Jan 05, 2012

In warzone PvP you get Xp and gold, also commendations, Valor Points...i think thats it.

The xp/gold varies on if you won or not. Winning for me net me the same as doing a quest with a bonus. Losing...about a quest worth.

Matches only last ~20 mins. So its not bad. Its fun, chaotic....chaotic...it does help to be a higher lvl so you have more skills to pick from, but ive seen lvl 10s to 50's in the same match.

Oh and interupts are your friend. And long range characters seem to have an advantage in the chaos as they can stand outside the whirlwind of lightsabers and blast away. I almost wish I went caster at times. Almost....

Im now playing mostly my BH on the Kaas City server.  I got my Jedi Guardian up to 46 with 400 in all crafting areas, so I'll go back to him eventually.  BH feels A LOT stronger than Jedi Guardian so far...

For Lords of Hyperion eyes only.

I spent most of my playtime today trying to get a high enough level to beat a 32 Elite Darth Jadus. He is impossible to attack without walking into him without my cloaking on. Since my class relies on the element of surprise, I had to eventually find a fellow Operative to help me out.

It was hard to assimilate into my story. I am spinning it as the a buddy cop kind of situation. I think he is also the one that put that darn chip in my head. The spy game has really heated up since the defeat of Jadus. I find myself under republic control on the war-torn planet of Taris. The chip in my head is causing me to turn on my allies, at the same time I am hunted by the resistance fighters. I have been cloaked for so long I forget what color my skin is.

Been having a blast playing,

even more so with an operative who I will not name for your safety. We have some good synergy going.

Hope to play with more on our server. I dont mind tagging along for class missions.

I really, really want to play this game but I just can't justify $15 freaking bucks a month to play a game.  Man I hate MMOs with their monthly cost.
