Pacov's place to enjoy the show.

Update 5/25/2017

  • This thread is all done.  I've lost interest in jibba jibbing here, but its been fun.  Thanks for all the memories.
  • I am streaming from time to time on twitch - generally just when I'm trying hard in ranked though.  If interested, you can check that out here:  https://www.twitch.tv/pacovdumptruck

Well, I started a thread back in Dec 2011 that’s seen a lot of activity (some 922,000 views over the course of a few years apparently...).  That thread had a good deal of tips/strategies/discussions about League of Legends from new and old players alike.  You can find the previous thread (now archived) here:  https://forums.joeuser.com/413863.  I think its time to start fresh with a new thread.

What’s this thread all about?
For those that followed the previous thread, the type of content you see here will be fairly consistent to what you are used to.  Please consider this a place to discuss LoL related content as you like.  I'll do the same and treat the thread as a blog as well where I talk about what’s going on with me in LoL.  Feel free to jump in and join the discussion if you like.

Quick background on me
I played a lot of Demigod as pacov/cheesuscrust. Back in August 2011, I started getting heavily involved in League of Legends, and folks from the community were kind enough to help me figure things out.  I play LoL most nights, stream, make videos and it’s my main gaming interest.

game 2 - kinda got wrecked.  so so mid making poor decisions here and there.  I messed up a smidge.  Really behind as a whole.  Should have been an easy game imo.  Nasus jung on enemy team.  Also, I hate that I keep getting put into teams that are working together so much.  I'm seeing 4 man early ganks and roams often on the other teams lately.

I have to do late night work so staying up a bit longer and playing

Also I would like to get some ranked team games in. It feels like it has been a good while since we have played one (especially twisted treeline since brad has been pretty MIA). I will be around this weekend and I am on most nights at 7-8 central time during the week. A team consisting of myself, pacov, hedgie, thunder, karl, or bryff is most optimal since we have probably played the most games together so far but dan would be a delightful replacement if there is not enough people.

Really, jungle is pretty balanced other than maybe Lee right now (which is why Riot's recent posts about why they can't nerf posts are stupid).  There is a whole tier of junglers who are all pretty much equally competent.  Just pick any of a number of reasonably powerful junglers as long as they can be build as a bruiser and can initiate at least somewhat, and you will be fine if you get good at them.  I mean, is it really going to be a big deal if you get good at Vi or Wukong instead of Elise even though Vi/Wukong isn't an LCS "big 3" jungler?  Of course not.  The details of which junglers you end up picking don't matter as long as its reasonable.

I agree solo queue its best just to play what you are good at even if it is not currently a highly sought after champion in any role. Unless its an extremely obvious hard counter (vayne into a caitlyn, brand into a fizz, nasus into a teemo, etc......) then its time to bust out your next safest pick that wont lose you the lane just by locking the champion in.

If anyone likes metal I would suggest listening to "Thornmail" from the Pentakill album that riot made for fun. It is a pretty decent song with a fun story in it. The rest of the songs on the album are pretty meh. Some instrumental and a few more vocals. The lead singer from Dragonforce does a few songs on the album which is kind of fun if you are familiar with the band.

I was pretty bored at work so I decided to listen to the full album a few times.

Last game of the night I decided to play as naut in team builder and was stuck against a lee.  Got super counter jungled as well and I blew a few smites that would have secured by buffs during the pressure.  Thankfully, the lee was just ridiculously greedy which ended up costing him quite a bit.  I did get to troll my diamond 2 nasus teammate out of top lane that was a being an arse to me, so that was nice anyway.  It's always nice when you can visit retribution on someone immediately.  In his instance, he knew I was way behind, would see me working on a jungle camp, walk to it and q.  I, in turn, ended his laning phase and forced him to go to another lane for being an arse.

I'm going to start a series called 2AM justice.  In this series, pacov will go on tilt and seek "justice."  hue.  Anyway, was a rough game and some forever farm teammate decided to troll me.  So, I happily made his game as much fun as he made mine.

Have you not gotten to know Pacov over the years?  I could just imagine the alternate history version of that game posted here:

Pacov:  "Had a griefer jungler last night, so that was fun.  I was playing Nasus Top and really wanted to get my stacks up, so I q'd a wraith that my Jungler was working on. My Jungler was behind so I figured he wouldn't mind a little jungle tax so I could carry him better, cause Nasus scales much harder than Nautilus who is still useful for CC no matter what.  This guy freaks out when I take "his" wraith and starts fucking around taking forever to take a tower (almost doing it slowly on purpose?!) all the while making us all fight 4v5.  This one time he died without moving, told us all it was lag... but not sure.  I mean, someone wouldn't intentionally feed over having his wraith "stolen" by someone who gets a lot of stacks out of it?  Poor Pacov, I get the worst luck with teammates... "

Oh my bad!

So... how many times has he "lagged" in games with one of us?

And we need a better name than "2AM Justice" I'm sorry.  My vote is "Passive Aggressive Justice"

Mystery skin to whomever can beat that.

I lost control of my champion shortly after nasus took a camp from me in the jungle.  Lag was really intense and I unfortunately died to the enemy top laner.

2 AM Justice is fine.  I thought passive aggressive justice was what we called your forum posts.

Anyway, I haven't ever "lagged" out in game with you fellas, but you do make the concept appealing from time to time, thunder.

Have you not gotten to know Pacov over the years?

heh - to be fair, I wouldn't do that sort of thing to my pals (passive aggressive or otherwise ofc) - even those I might think are deserving of it from time to time.  That said, if I'm pugging, its late, a teammate is being a particular jerk to me, I'm probably going to be a bit trollish.  I generally don't mind screwing with someone in a pub if they've been screwing with me.  In this case it was a guy that refused to leash and told me I was doing it wrong (always start with your adc/support for jungle), I ganked for and he immediately pinged me away multiple times after I helped him with a gank, and then last he decided to come up and steal my jungle camp when he had plenty of CS waiting for him in his lane.  It was very clear when he took my jungle camp that he was outright disrespecting me, so I forced him to do something else with the team instead of being an island to his hearts content.  If a guys clearly having a rough game, shitting on him does not encourage kindness.  Not at all fair of me for the points that hedgie mentions... but it did force him to try to be useful while I took a team objective (his tower) and recovered more from all the counter jungling.  Guy was a jerk and so I returned that behavior to him.

I thought passive aggressive justice was what we called your forum posts.

We have two different definitions of what passive aggressive means.  What I wrote was an openly hostile response to you bragging about being a hypocrite and gloating about how you were planning on now griefing random teammates in the same way you used to grief your pals.  What exactly did you think was me being "passive" in calling you out?

Let me be more direct though if that's what you prefer.

Sounds like the Nasus was right in taking the wraith if you were having a rough game.  Letting him stack up and being happy to have a hypercarry get more gold and would have been the team first play.  If you were in his place, you would have seen the exact way he did.  However, since you were on the other side it was a disrespectful act that required "retribution".

Also, get your story straight.  Were you getting back at the Nasus by screwing over your team, or was it a tactic to force the Diamond 2 to play better?  It can't really be both.

As far as your slow split push goes, that just plain brings up bad memories.

You don't seem to like my posts.  You have some options:

1. Get a thicker skin

2. Tell me not to post responses on your blog, which I'll honor.

3. Don't brag about being a jerk and not expect to get negative feedback.

Lets not all gang up on Pacov at the same time now!

We have all had our moments give him a break.

Lets not all gang up on Pacov at the same time now!

We have all had our moments give him a break.

I don't like that these things escalate to an uncomfortable place and I don't love the part of my personality that helps cause that.

And yes, we do all have our moments.  As a friend, please let me know when you're not stoked on how I'm acting as you did right there.
