Well, I started a thread  back in August (https://forums.joeuser.com/411269/) that's seen a lot of activity and actually had quite a few good bits of information for new and old players alike.  I figure it's time to start a new thread and perhaps keep the OP up-to-date with useful information, etc.  Feel free to use this post for any LoL discussion, etc.

Super fast background:  I played a lot of Demigod as pacov/cheesuscrust.  Back in August 2011 or so, I started getting heavily involved in LoL and folks have been kind enough to chime in with tips and links to various sites that have been quite useful to me.  In addition, I've been able to keep up with folks that I've played Demigod with in the past and meet some new folks that play LoL and frequent these message boards.

Here's some of the things I've learned in the previous thread:

 New Player tips

  • Play the tutorial.
  • Consider picking up the starter bundle.  It's 530 RP (that's about $4).  You get 8 champs unlocked, a 4 win IP boost and a 10 win XP boost.  It's a pretty good deal (used it recently on an alt account).  You can find it in the game store under bundles.
  • Riot gives you 400 RP as soon as you hit level 5.  It's enough to buy some skins, a boost, or a cheap character.
  • Learn to last hit!  Last hitting is simply landing the last hit on creeps.  If you last hit, you get gold for that kill.  The number of creeps you have killed is tracked in a value called CS.  You can see this number in the top right hand corner of the ui or by pressing tab.  Here's a really simple tutorial re: last hitting if you are brand new - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LheiRB76x5g
  • Read some guides on any character you want to try out.  The recommended builds (what you see when you go to a shop) are not optimal.  The guides include item suggestions and skill orders.  These are very useful in learning decent ways to build characters
  • Use the rune combiner to get level 3 runes prior to level 20 if you like.  You will need 375 IP.  Buy any tier 1 rune that costs 15 IP.  You need to purchase 25 of these.  Click on your rune page.  In the bottom right hand corner there is a button called the Rune Combiner.  If you place 5 runes in there, you can get a random rune that is 1 tier higher (eg if you have 5 tier 1 runes, you will get 1 random tier 2 rune.  Anyway, the math works out such that you spend 375 IP ( buy 25 tier 1 15 IP runes) and you get 1 completely random tier 3 rune.  Some of the quintessences are 2k IP, so if you luck out and get one of those, you just won the lottery.  You can always keep the random tier 2 rune if you end up with something good and don't want to trade it out yet.
  • Consider setting aside IP for tier 3 runes (available at level 20 and above).  You can't purchase them with real money - only IP.  Keep that in mind.

Here's a guide I made

pacov's Guide to Improving at League of Legends and Moving Up in Elo

k - so I'm just going to put down some of my thoughts.  I'm not amazing at this game, but I do certain things that improve my odds of winning in ranked and so far its panning out just fine (bronze 5 to gold 5 in about a month or so).  We all have varied skill levels, so some of this might be useful and some not.  Caveat complete.

Prerequisite- you need to know how to play every single role.  You don't have to be a god at every single role (more power to you if you are - I'm certainly not).  You need to be able to play at a serviceable level in every single role and excel at least at 1 role (preferably 2).  In my case, I'm good at support and adc.  I'm not great, but have serviceable mids and jungles and so so tops.  Knowing what you are good at and bad at is very important.  If you don't know, I can probably tell you - but you really should know...  Anyway, you need to have enough champs to make solid picks in any role and you need to be able to cover any role if it comes down to it.  I'll talk about how to get better at specific roles in a bit.

Champ select advice - Don't be the "fill" guy unless you really feel like you are awesome in all roles.  Call your preferred role immediately when you hit the lobby.  Say "adc pref."  Do this as soon as you hit the lobby.  Some people believe that if you call a role you magically get it.  This is stupid, but if you call something out, folks will often accomodate your request.  If you are feeling wishy washy for whatever reason, call out multiple roles in order of what you want to play - "adc/mid pref."  In my experience, you generally do not want to call support.  It's a very important role, but you want to be in a position to carry every single game if possible.  If you aren't calling out a role, you are hoping that other players can carry you.  If you are hoping that folks will carry you, you don't deserve to win.  You need to know your best roles and you absolutely should request them.

Solo or duo in ranked? - Well, my 1st thought here is that you should solo.  If you solo, you have to rely on yourself.  IMO - its a much bigger test of skill to play solo and win than to duo.  Do you want someone to carry you or do you really want to know that you are actually good?  That said, provided you have the right duo partner, you can increase your odds of winning quite a bit.  The simple math is that instead of having 4 teammates as unknown quantities, you only have 3.  If you have a good duo teammate, you know what you can expect.  When you duo, you get the most bang for your buck by having complimentary roles.  Support/adc is good; jungle/mid also works.  Even if you don't have direct symmetry in roles, if you are an amazing mid and I'm an amazing adc, our odds go up quite a bit if we both get those roles.  Our odds go way down if we can't get those roles and are forced to play out of positions that we are weaker.  For example, Bryff is a good mid.  If he duo's up with me, the only way he will get to play that role is for me to call mid, take it myself, and then put myself into a position like support where I can't carry out of (I'm always 1st pick, Bryff is always last pick when we duo)... that and I have to show the mid I'm picking at the start which means Bryff gets hard countered.  In short, we can expect that we will be a disadvantage when duo queuing.  Now, if Bryff queued up with someone at a lower elo than himself that was solid, he'd likely be 1st pick and be able to get mid and have a better chance of carrying the game.  Anyway, you need to keep in mind where you end up in pick order when duoing if you aren't looking to go adc/support.  If you want that, you can usually get it.

How do you get better in roles that you are not good at? - Well, here's what I do.  And this is really what I do on a regular basis.  I think about what I'm good at and what I'm not good at.  For instance, I realized that I don't play any hyper carry ads.  So, I read up on hyper carries like vayne and kog maw.  I look for guides on how to build them (most adcs are the same btw ), I look for vids on how people play them (eg how do I all in with a specific champ - is there a combo - when do I all in - what's the best way for me to burst - how should I behave in lane with this champ).  Then, I fire up a custom game and try out the mechanics of whatever champ vs AI.  Usually I learn a few tricks during that custom on how to position myself, etc.  Then, I'm off to normal games where I'll request the role or character I'm trying out.  Now, people still report your for being awful in normals, but it really is where you need to try out characters to see if you are any good or not as the bots are useless for proving your skill level to yourself.  So, fire up that normal and ask to play a role (again - after you've tried out the champ against bots).  If you don't know anyone you are with and you are quite awful, I suggest muting everyone at the start of the game.  Then, do your best.  Continue with this until you feel like you have a serviceable skill level in whatever role.  And keep in mind what you need to work on.  For me, I noticed I didn't really have alot of mids for ranked, so I started practicing some with gragas against and karth.  That way, I'll be able to get the job done if I need to play mid.  The next thing I need to do is put more time into being better top lane. Again, because while I prefer adc/support, I might need to play top for the team.  So, best to be ready for it.  Put your time in and practice roles.

One last thought - there are certain things you can generally expect in ranked.  1 - if you are 1st pick, you generally can call whatever you want.  Common knowledge, I'm sure - but I'll add - CALL WHATEVER YOU WANT.  2 - if you duo queue, you generally can lock down both adc and support.  It works best if your adc is 1st pick, ofc.  I've bumped into like 10 random dedicated supports in all of my games of LoL.  People generally aren't going to call support. So, if you are 1st pick and duo'd, just call adc and then your duo partner can almost always get support.

Was this referring to something tonight?  Because I don't remember complaints about that - the complaint was that we started a fight top (after announcing I was going to wander through their jungle looking for a fight), and their bot lane showed up unexpectedly, leading to a 0-3 exchange.  We wanted the MIA call from pacov in chat, he thought that it didn't need to be called since Cait and him had backed recently.

this was right after you guys lost a 4v5 dragon fight (which i wasn't watching - only had audio up at the time). Brad says that pacov didn't do enough damage and asks pacov what he is maxing. Pacov (correctly) says Tumble. Brad gets super mad at him that he isn't maxing W "for the AS build".

pacov became frustrated that everything that game had been blamed on him due to not claiming MIA earlier in the game.

This really ties into the fact that pacov has a generous interpretation of "free", while I have a very conservative interpretation.  I think that pacov chalks up many of these kills as "free", while I don't really agree.

i think this is mostly because anything "Free" is synonymous with "uncontested". Having a 4 man gank bot and then getting a double kill isn't a "Free" dragon. They earned it by showing initiative and successfully executing a gank. It's only "free" in the sense of "buy a double kill and get a free dragon!" like a Black Friday sale. But they still had to "buy" that double kill.

ts why I stopped playing with ya, or LOL really.

This is one of those games b/c it has such a high visiblity within the esports(like SC2, CS, COD, etc) that the art of enjoying a game b/c its a game is lost.

Win/Lost has become the judgement of fun. Not simply having a good time.

And as epsorts evolves and more games try to capture that momentum, it permeates into all games...

I don't really think its a esports issue, per se.  I play LoL pretty much exactly how I'd play Demigod and that had little to nothing to do with esports.  In that game, the meta evolved through us without much outside influence.  I was pretty much the same way.

Let me provide an example from last night.  I was playing a ranked game last night.  I didn't want to run jungle, but I take the role because we need it.  I play pretty damn great for the most part.  I have an imbecile for a top laner that eventually evolves into full tank split push volibear.  I spend a good chunk of my time ganking for him out of top so we don't have to deal with a super fed ryze late game.  Our ez, having a very tanky front line, decides to go blue build.  Anyway, the game lasts like 57 minutes and we lose.  We could have put the game away at like the 30 minute mark, the 35 min mark, and so on.  I'm actually fairly cheery and encouraging to my teammates throughout the game.  Anyway, based on my commentary, you hear how I'm pretty thrilled with the outcome of his game... let me reiterate some commentary from someone on my team during another point where we tried to lose the game.

The team decides to engage their full team under a tower after we finish one of the enemy inhibitors.  So, this is immediately after we score a huge win by getting the enemy inhib.  We could literally do anything but get wrecked by the enemy team and come out way ahead having accomplished our objective.  Well, voli goes ape shit under enemy tower, the ez gets destroyed, the lulu gets destroyed (all folks on my team).  Anyway, I think we get like 1 guy and either get 4 deaths or fully aced.  Someone on my team then says - man - i Fucking love this game!!!!!!  Not in a sarcastic context, but more in a god I loved that fight under the tower.  So, someone's pretty happy and having a super fun, carefree good time.  They are enjoying themselves.  They are also throwing an easily winable game, step by step, dicking around in a ranked game... making a 20-30 minute win into a 50-60 minute loss.  So, guy 1 had fun, made poor decisions, and lost the game.  Guy 2 busted their ass playing a support role to enable his team to kick ass, over performed, and eventually lost the game so someone else could have super fun times.  I don't find much fun in slowly pissing away an easy win.  I'm not even playing a role where I'm going to get to have a bunch of fun, for the team I might add (I had wanted to adc).  People dicking around in a ranked kind of shit on folks that are trying.

Ranked/normal games shouldn't be the same thing.  My ranked mentality is completely appropriate imo.  You don't go to ranked to dick around and try new stuff.  You come if you are ready to go to the show.  If you don't have this mentality, you shouldn't play ranked imo.  That said, problems can occur when this carries over to normal games.... or does it?  Generally speaking, I have the same mentality in ranked as I do in normals.  I do my best to win (that's fun).  The difference for me is that I might try out champs that I wouldn't necessarily play in ranked, try new strategies, try new run/master setups.  I find all that stuff quite enjoyable.  I might get my arse kicked, but I enjoy trying out new things.  I think someone (lots of gibba jabba lately here) said that the rage often comes from doing something idiotic at a really crappy time where it substantially hurts your team.

Going to make a separate post to reply to some of this other stuff.

Maxing W on Vayne is something you only do against melees. \:

Maxing W in lane is really bad and relies on either being absurdly ahead (so getting the proc is easy) or the enemy support being completely incompetent.

So no idea why Brad Wong / Karl got after you for maxing something that is a situational laning to begin with. Tumble is way way better in teamfights because of the repositioning it allows you.

My take is also that maxing tumble is much more beneficial 1st as well - seems like most of the players on pro builds agree with that, but some do max w.  I get why brad thinks I should max w, but I disagree.

awuffleablehedgie
You probably shouldn't be building a PD as your 2nd item if you go BotRK. Obviously, Vayne is slightly less-worse to do that but if you go PD you're buying a super-multiplicative item on something that doesn't multiply well (BotRK only has 25 AD and it's % passive/active can't crit). i know that more pros have been doing BotRK into PD for some odd reason but...

But just go IE. BotRK > IE > LW is a super strong build on ADCs that want to go BotRK first (Vayne, Twitch, Varus, Trist, Kog, Quinn).

PD is a pretty weak item and actually if you watch a lot of high Elo games they will stop at Zeal, build a LW, and then complete the PD (or go Stattik Shiv instead for split-push or waveclear). PD is also pretty weak for killing towers (only the AS does anything and you have no AD with just a BotRK).

Good point.  I think I should change and just build a zeal immediately after botrk and then move onto ie.

Krazikarl
I was complaining about adc builds mainly because I thought that pacov had taken more defensive runes/masteries. He announced that he was doing this in one game, but I might have been wrong about that game - maybe he did it for the game before with support Teemo and I got it mixed up.

I think I actually did say that this game, but I haven't really mentioned what I've been doing on adc lately.  It's always 21/x/x (where x changes).  If I'm playing vayne, depending on the matchup, I usually do a setup where I only go 1 or 2 deep into the defensive tree and put the rest in utility for faster cooldown on summoners, etc.  When I said defensive, that really meant I was going the more traditional adc setup that you are likely used to (21/9). FYI - I don't have any adc setups where I go past 9 in the def tree.

Krazikarl
We wanted the MIA call from pacov in chat, he thought that it didn't need to be called since Cait and him had backed recently.

Please don't spend more than 10 seconds complaining about a mia call. Must have spent 5-8 minutes talking about that stupid thing.

Honestly, I think our views are pretty much in line.  Free if there is no chance in hell someone could get away safely.  The problem is when I complain about someone taking a kill that could have fallen to me, but was not necessarily free.  If I'm adc, I'm going to complain a little bit if I'm not getting kills.  I'm going to complain alot if I'm not getting the kills (only assists) and its truly free.  This sort of thing is also where I think you (karl) get some of the ideas about how stats mean everything to me, etc.  It's not that I care a shitton about having an amazing kda (though its true that its an ok tell of performance imo) - its that money on the adc translates into damage.  And if the enemy adc is getting those kills and I'm not, then it often negates the advantage I might already have in cs (or widens the disadvantage... blahblah).  Anyway, I'll try not to complain so much when I'm getting assists out the wazoo... it would probably be a good idea if you notice me getting frustrated to perhaps not come in, get a kill, give double buff to the enemy adc, and then jovially sing "i'm udyr."  Can't imagine why I'd start to get annoyed about such things, can you?

Krazikarl
If you give the kill to the ADC you get a little more power late game, but the gold gets locked into a lane for a much longer time in the mid game.

You get a little more power then.  I see your pov and I can agree with it, but its more of a question, in my mind, of what difference it will make in lane then.  Am I behind already, ahead, etc?  If I'm down 30 cs and my tower is at 50% hp, prob ok to try to put that kill on me.  You'd, of course, have to know any of that information... (I do call out some stats in game sometimes... eg literally call out the enemy adc score and mine to help paint a quick picture).

The complaints are for egregiously stupid things (e.g. intentionally starting a 2v5 fight), or for doing the same dumb thing over and over.

I'm hoping some thought will be put into this before a response, but question - are you saying I fall into this category or doing the same dumb thing over and over?

pacov became frustrated that everything that game had been blamed on him due to not claiming MIA earlier in the game.

You don't get super pissed when someone maxes q instead of w? You adc didn't call mia so qq?  ...

Anyway, for me currently, its some combination of brad/karl that usually get me wound up and result in toxicity.  I do want to make crystal clear that I am part of the process that causes this toxicity (eg not blameless in the slightest), but the odds of some toxic vomit go through the roof when the 3 of us are in voice chat.  Brad seems the most prone to toxicity at this point imo (a couple days ago he was pissed at me for whatever reason and said "no wonder thunder dropped you as a friend." - this from my pal of 2-3 years...).  Karl gets wound up by me or what have you and then it just became this silly ass pile on with the 2 of them last night.  I wisely dropped from the skype call and then was able to enjoy myself at least a little bit.  Think I made the right decision about dropping from the call last night as it was only going to get worse.  Anyway, hoping I get some time to pull some clips, etc, for the vlog.  Might take me a day or so.

#"fuck you i'm udyr"

this was an example when someone made a huge misplay early game (giving up double buffs) and people didn't seem too mad about it Though Karl probably should have been a little more "oops" about the whole thing.

#Free/Guarenteed Kills

It's not free if people are really close to dying (your support dying so you could get a kill instead of an assist is not good unless you're killing someone who is 0/10/0 so you can reset their gold). The risk of giving them gold isn't worth giving you more gold (supports have other things to do other than sit in a bush in a 2v0 lane).

it's not free if you are diving a turret (your tank doesn't want to tank 15 turret shots and every second spent dicking around gives mid/jungler time to respond). You are spending time and health to transfer that gold to the ADC.

it's not free if it's a teamfight situation (there are other targets to kill and objectives to take after the ace. Spending unnecessary time tanking damage isn't going to help win the teamfight).

#Kill-Stealing

We can all probably agree that giving the supports kill gold is suboptimal. Similarily, if i lose a game where someone on my team was super fed... 9 times out of 10 that person was the jungler. Fed junglers matter less and less as the game goes on.

However, it's really all about item thresholds. Just like it is better to sometimes defer a creepwave to a support who is 100g away from Aegis, giving kills to junglers/supports can be good decisions in the early game in particular.

Keep in mind all of the following is addressing early game kills (certainly < 5 minutes and still somewhat true for < 10 minutes)

If getting the kill lets the ADC get a BFS or a Cutlass first base (instead of a Vamp Scepter) then obviously it is optimal for them to get that kill. Being 45 AD ahead is monumental and that lane should win on its own 2v2.

However, if that is not the case... if the ADC gets the kill they get, at best, a longsword/dagger/boots, maybe a 2nd dorans. These are tiny, tiny benefits.

If the support had been able to finish a Sightstone with that kill gold... that might have been better (it transfers into safety for the bottom lane and the massive hp boost sets up kills later on people like Leona).

A jungler with an early kill can finish Mobility Boots or a Spirit item super early. Mobility Boots transfers into kills and pressure "all over the map". Early spirit items do the same thing due to faster and safer jungle clears.

Until the 30 minute mark, it is never a bad idea to have the APC "take" a kill instead of the ADC (see my roaming comment earlier about losing lane after getting a dragon + double assist bot).

Even after the 30 minute mark, it mostly comes down to thresholds (finishing that Deathcap is a lot better than giving that ADC a longsword for their LW). These kind of thesholds are complex though, and very rarely communicated between eachother in voice.

It is pretty much always bad to "steal" kills if you gank a lane that is behind/even, they take a ton of damage + burn summoners and then have to base after the assist. This is because you actually "reduced" the amount of gold they would get (they'll be giving up 2/3 creep waves of minions unless you get the tower) and only marginally changed the relative gold between the two laners. If they were behind, and assist + base means they are still behind. Only a little less so.

Brad is a huge dick to you and i don't know why he taunts you with messages over your stream all the time (i know i do it too sometimes but usually it's like "you forgot to use BotRK/red pot"). He knows that sets you off and it isn't helping much.

yeah - I really wasn't all that mad about that either at the time.  Crap happens, but I think we had things well enough in hand.

re: free kills - I still maintain that I really am saying the same thing, over and over.  Folks are just adding various details re: what is free.  I agree with everything.  Not sure why I feel like folks are saying they disagree with me re: this.  You know if you took a secured kill that could have fallen on the adc (well, any support does at the very least and I do when I'm jungling anyway).  Same old story - if there's any question re: it being free, then its not free (eg tank 100 tower hits to let your adc take a kill = no free).

Now, the discussion re: who you should be trying to drop the kill on is completely relevant in the event.  That's interesting - but in my mind, mostly relevant just during early/mid.  The jungler getting an early kill is a big help to them and the team.  No objection there.  There are just certain times, like you mentioned, where that extra gold for adc makes a huge impact on the lane.  And I can't say in advance, hey guys, if there is a magical setup where the enemy adc/support can be picked off and have no escapes up, well, try to let me get that kill as I will now have enough for cutlass.  Also, I had a rough time and am down about 13 cs.  This will make a big difference in lane.  All I can generally do is just stick with the principal is that if its a free kill (100% free), gimme.  That's like way too many statistics to have in mind based on the small probability of a free kill that could be given to X number of players.  Anyway, I just get crabby when I'm sitting on 0 kills and 4 assists.

#Toxic

Yeah - sadly there are a few easy ways to get me wound up.  Often he's offering useful comments in chat while he's watching a game I'm streaming and I appreciate that - things like maybe you should X or maybe X.  Quite often very good advice.  Other times, just trying to get a rise out of me.  Worst case is that when I get wound up, I'm absolute hell to have to have to listen to because I go into broke record bitching mode... something everyone would prefer I avoid - including me.

i think we keep repeating ourselves because what you say in here is totally different than how you act in game (though obviously sometimes you are joking around). You "say" that it's not a big deal etc, etc, but when it happens in the game ... well

maybe... adc's are greedy bastards.  I just happen to keep that in mind when I'm supporting/jungling, eh.  To be fair, very low odds I'll stop complaining about this thing overnight, but I will try to work on it a bit.

Please don't spend more than 10 seconds complaining about a mia call. Must have spent 5-8 minutes talking about that stupid thing.

If there had been agreement on the subject, I would have.

But since you were basically telling me that you weren't going to be calling that MIA promptly, there was an issue that had to be discussed.  I'm playing aggressive Udyr.  I'm going to be spending time in their jungle (which I announced ahead of time).  I have to have as much information as possible about where people are.

At one point you were saying things like "I'm the ADC so I don't call MIA".  The point of the ongoing discussion was that that is not acceptable to a counter jungling jungler.

To be honest, I found your response to be somewhat hypocritical.  You talk to me about how I don't communicate what are literally split second decisions when tanking.  But, when I ask you to communicate MIAs (which aren't split second things), I get "I'm an ADC, I don't do that".

Basically, when there is agreement on something, it gets usually gets dropped reasonably quickly.  When there isn't agreement, it gets discussed over more time.

I'm hoping some thought will be put into this before a response, but question - are you saying I fall into this category or doing the same dumb thing over and over?

It wasn't aimed at any specific person.

But, there are certain repetitive behaviors that will set people off pretty quickly.  If you split push with Naut again, people are going to be mentioning it pretty quickly and aggressively.

Well, in hindsight I obviously wouldn't have gone for that, but it wasn't some terrible decision at the time.

The only reason that I died was that Cait's trap JUST came off cooldown, and it deployed a tiny fraction of a second before I got over it.  I had an easy kill, but only died due to several split second things that went wrong.  Like I said, in hindsight I'm not saying it was a good idea, but I don't think that it was some terrible decision at the time either.

And I did acknowledge that I gave up double buffs (so it was a bad result) at the time.

Currently, the meta favors junglers who don't do a lot with gold.  Jungle is so gold deprived that the meta just favors champions like Lee Sin and Naut who can do a whole lot with not a lot of gold.  This also means that they don't scale well with gold (or they would be horribly OP).  So the point is completely valid there.

But there are some junglers who do scale reasonably with gold.  Fed Hecarim is a real issue for the other team.  I personally tend to play junglers scale better than average with gold (I play WW and Nasus, don't really play Nunu, Naut, etc), so I'm a more aggressive than normal is getting gold.

What is this.  Free?  I don't even know what the word is supposed to mean anymore.  I think pacov is of the mind that our team can waltz around the map taking objectives cheerfully while the other team is blissfully oblivious.

It depends on what the new recipe is (I think there has to be some sort of recipe change since the recipe cost went down by 330, but the total cost went up by 300).

If you exclude the health regen, you are basically getting 530 more gold's worth of stats for 300 more gold.  Thats a very nice but not huge buff since most completed items are pretty gold efficient when it comes to stats (but not as efficient as the improvements here).  If you include the health regen, that could indeed be a huge buff.

But the thing that worries me is the health regen.  Champions that build SV generally don't want passive health regen very much - they are building SV because they have substantial built in sustain.  So if these champions are forced to blow gold on early rejuv beads, it really doesn't become a hugely more desirable item.  Riot has this thing where they love forcing people to buy more health/mana regen early, but those really arent very desirable stats in a lot of cases.

Of course, if the recipe involves philo stone, then this is a huge buff indeed.

Since it has no mana regen philo stone is very unlikely. It will probably be something like 2 regen beads, kindlegem, negatron cloak, etc.

spirit visage chat

I'll see if its on pbe.  Off work early after a very hectic morning.  My real thought re: spirit visage - think of it as it is.  It's appealing on champs that benefit from the bonus health regen stuff, etc.  But, imo, not so appealing that many other items shouldn't take its place.  With this change, it feels much more appealing to me and I'd be much more likely to pick it up on those champs instead of "this would be a nice item, but the team needs me to get x more."

also - smeh - pbe has a big login queue atm... not sure why so many are that excited about yi rework, but apparently they are.  Anywho, I'll be on pbe in 15-30 minutes - I might stream for those that are interested.  Prob just check out the new item and then take the updated yi for a spin.  I don't THINK the new champ is on pbe live yet, but he might be... that would explain the login queue - if so, I'll be giving him a go as well.

edit - ah - lucian is live on pbe.  Here's hoping spirit udyr is up on live soon.  I'm guessing today if not already tbh.
